The next real attack – or a day on a cyber range, a hyper-realistic cyber attack simulation – can show how well prepared your IT team is for an emergency. Here, IT teams can be placed in realistic attack situations, team behavior can be tested in stressful situations, and security skills and capabilities can be improved. The Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology combines one of the world’s leading simulation platforms with current research findings and innovative startup ideas to create a new type of advanced training program – the Fraunhofer Cyber Range.

The program is based on a virtual mapping of a corporate or SCADA network and simulates different real-time attacks using realistic kill chain scenarios. The scenarios are based on real-world attacks and are designed in great detail so that participants can be tested in an emergency situation according to their role in the company. Speed and complexity can be adjusted so that the attacks can be adapted to the respective experience level of the teams. Both the scenarios and the solutions tested there are based on the current state of applied security research. The training sessions at the Cyberrange are complemented by next-generation attack scenarios, SOC insights from the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft’s Security Operation Center and an innovative Solution Radar.
